The Navy League of the United States was founded in 1902 by prominent leaders who, with the encouragement of President Theodore Roosevelt, decided a Navy League was needed to promote the interests of national security through naval preparedness.
The Navy League is unique among military-oriented associations: it is a 100% civilian organization dedicated to the mission of:
- Educating of our citizens, including our elected officials, on the importance of free seas and shipping to our national security and economy, through naval strength; and
- Support of the men and women of the sea services and their families.
You need not have served in the military to be a member of the Navy League.
